How many times must you see someone out of the corner of your eye before it seems more than mere coincidence?
At a large conference there are going to be people you never see, there will also be people you see everywhere. The coincidence shaking moment happened when I saw John Gargani at Jeff Wasbes’ and Jonathan Morell’s thought provoking 8 AM Saturday morning think tank on computer simulation. All the other moments made sense (his session, the dataviz meeting, the bar) but this one…
Of course I’m not really trying to suggest that John Gargani was following me around. I purposefully seek out differing viewpoints, innovation, tensions, and environments where I’m in over my head. I just learned that John might approach things in a similar manner.
